L2 Gas Actually Dropped

L2s aren't 10x cheaper. They're 1000x cheaper. This changes protocol design fundamentally.

People keep saying L2s are 10x cheaper and I want to shake them. They're 1000x cheaper for anything complex. This isn't an incremental improvement, it's a paradigm shift. Strategies that would burn through thousands in gas on mainnet run for pennies on L2. High frequency trading becomes possible. Micro transactions make sense. Complex DeFi compositions are finally viable. But cost isn't even the biggest win. The UX improvement matters more. No failed transactions eating your gas. No bidding wars. No watching gas prices like a hawk. Using DeFi finally feels normal. The design space this opens up is insane. Features we couldn't even consider before are now standard. Continuous rebalancing. Real time risk management. Automated strategies that actually work. The infrastructure supporting this is impressive. Sequencers handling massive throughput. Bridges moving billions. Security holding despite the complexity. The engineering here is remarkable. We're just scratching the surface of what's possible with these cost structures. The next generation of protocols will look nothing like what we have today.
