The Surge Is Happening
Ethereum's scaling roadmap entering its most aggressive phase. The throughput improvements are finally visible.
The Surge phase of Ethereum's roadmap is materializing faster than expected. This is the scaling push we've been waiting for and the results are starting to show.
PeerDAS is the near-term unlock. Distributing data availability sampling across the network. More blobs per block without requiring every node to download everything. The economics of L2s improve significantly.
The full danksharding vision is clearer now. Multiple proposals getting refined in parallel. The research bottlenecks from years ago are resolving. Implementation timelines feel realistic for once.
L2 throughput is already impressive but we're maybe at 5% of the theoretical ceiling. When The Surge completes, the headroom will be enormous. Applications we can't imagine today become possible.
The specs are elegant when you dig into them. KZG commitments, erasure coding, random sampling. Each piece fits together. The cryptography that seemed theoretical is becoming engineering.
The coordination required is immense though. Client teams, L2 teams, researchers all moving together. Ethereum's ability to execute complex upgrades is underrated. This stuff is genuinely hard.
